Social Engagement

We're not talking about the upcoming gala at the art museum, concert, or backyard BBQ. We are talking about the importance to go beyond social media to discuss your business, brand, and purpose with other human beings!

I bet you thought this post would be about how to use social media, didn't you?

Well, while #Facebook, #Twitter, #Instagram, #TikTok, and YouTube can be necessary to expand your digital footprint and message, the power of human interaction, attention, and belief are essential for long-term success.

Let's face it, bots and algorithms do wonders for some businesses, spreading posts, slogans, images, videos, and other content at the speed of light across multiple platforms - in SECONDS. But, our attention span shortens as more content blasts across our devices, and our eyes and minds are being pulled in multiple directions at once.

We're subjected to relentless advertising and promotions daily, which can feel overwhelming, to say the least.

So, while you continue to post on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, or write blogs like this one on #Wix, it's imperative you spend time conversing with others about your business, passion, brand, and purpose.

It's imperative you spend time conversing with others about your business, passion, brand, and purpose.

Here are some tips on how to employ the use of social engagement for your business:

  1. Start with why you do what you do. Skip the what and explain why you love what you do or have to offer to engage your audience and avoid delivering a rehearsed or tired elevator sales pitch.

  2. Sell yourself short. Don't expand on anything too much and stick to the core service or product at hand.

  3. Personalize your experience. Tell your backstory and give relevant, emotional context for who you are.

We could list dozens of best practices, but the three listed above are a great way to keep you in your business.
